Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that focuses on grappling. Students wear a jiu jitsu uniform (a dogi or gi) while training and belts are awarded to indicate progress.

At The Dojo we also teach a variation of BJJ called Submission Grappling or "No Gi". Students wear regular exercise clothing and learn holds and techniques made popular by the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).

The philosophy behind Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is to empower people with skills and confidence in real life situations. BJJ is considered the ultimate self defence as the techniques are not dependant on a person's size or strength - women, men and children can defeat heavier and stronger opponents.
